This is the model #555, pictured at left,  is the first putter designed by Jimmy Flowers in 1935-36. This design was the result of a putter slump that he was experiencing back in 1936. After trying several putters, he decided to design and build his own.  One of the putters he tried was the Schnectady putter shown below.

The #555 was the first putter head patented by Jimmy flowers and the one of six Jimmy Flowers putter head patents purchased by Spaulding in 1939. Since the #555 was fast growing in popularity, Spaulding's intentions were to sell the model as their "Lyne of Flight" model.  We have the original mock-up of the putter done for the "Lyne of Flight" series and original advertising artwork which would have been used the production and advertising of this putter. From 1935 to 1964 The Jimmy Flowers Putter Company handmade and sold over 100,000 putters world wide. The model 555 being the most popular.

Model #44 Jimmy Flowers True Line Putter - circa 1950's

The Putter below appears to have had the head indentions painted in a gold metallic high gloss enamel which would hav been done by hand.  Putter head would have been buffed too a high polished bronze finish then sprayed with a protective clear coat. Club would have also come with matching grip, ferule and putter head accent paint.  Putter was sold in the 1950s for around $25.00

The #44 was a variation of the Model #555.  The front and rear of the putter head was a little more rounded. And the shaft offset to ball alignment. This putter was obtained from a golfer in Canada. Putter is 50s vintage and cam painted with matching ferule, grip with putter painted in one or two accenting colors. Putter would have been finished in a high polished bronze finish then sprayed with a clear coat laquer.

The company signature was imprinted into the bottom of each putter by hand.

This is the original golf club grip which came with the putter when it was made. The putters always came with matching or accenting grip and ferule and putter colors. Painting was done by hand.
